Rwandan president Paul Kagame’s son Brian Kagame, has graduated from the prestigious Royal Sandhurst Military Academy in the United Kingdom.
Attending Brian Kagame’s graduation were his mother, first lady Jeanette Kagame, and his brothers Ivan Cyomoro Jagame and Maj Ian Kagame.
Brian is the second Kagame son with interests in the army after Ian Kagame.
Ian Kagame is already an officer of his country’s national army, the Rwanda Defence Forces (RDF).
Like in neighboring Uganda, the idea of President’s children joining the army is seen with suspicion, with the head of state seen as grooming his son for the country’s top job.
Brian Kagame completed his military training from the same school where Ugandan first son Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, currently the Ugandan Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), went.
