A new vehicle said to belong to Kalangala District Woman MP Hellen Nakimuli has left Ugandans talking. A video of MP Hellen Nakimuli’s new ‘monster’ car is making rounds on social media, and Ugandans, as usual, are talking.
MP Hellen Nakimuli’s new ‘monster’ car is a lifted Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited (4-door). Rubicon models cost somewhere between USD $47,000 and $59,000. That is hundreds of millions in Uganda shillings.
There have been mixed reactions on MP Hellen Nakimuli’s new ‘monster’ car. Some argued that they want an MP who is rich, not one who is poor.
Other commenters seemed to suggest that people with such cars were already in a new Uganda, a campaign slogan for main opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine.
Hellen Nakimuli belongs to the NUP. She just won reelection and will be part of the 12th Parliament. Kalangala District which she represents is a district of islands.
Yet some even went as far as claiming that the MP had already secured the future and was now on course to protect her gains. Ruling NRM candidate President Yoweri Museveni used ‘Protecting Our Gains’ as his 2026 campaign slogan while in the 2021 election, his slogan was ‘Securing the Future.’
There were also commenters who opined that the opposition should stop saying that Uganda is bleeding when politicians opposing Museveni’s regime are registering some enviable milestones.
Members of the 12th parliament will get up to Shs315m each for buying a car, on top of their juicy salaries, as reported Here and There.
