MORE TROUBLE: Tension as Anti-Kyabazinga Gabula Chiefs Pile More Pressure on Him to Hand Over Office to Rival Wambuzi

A section of chiefs opposed to Busoga Kyabazinga William Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope IV has written a notification letter demanding that the king hands over the office of the Obwa Kyabazinga bwa Busoga.

In their letter dated January 03 but received by central government offices, such as the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development on January 27, the chiefs, through Robert Yokana Mukajjanga Luba VII, the secretary of the Busoga Chiefs Royal Council and also the Bunha Royal Hereditary Saza Chief, the chiefs say nothing will stop them from installing Edward Columbus Wambuzi Muloki as their Kyabazinga. BACKGROUND

On January 03, a section of members of the council of chiefs fired Kyabazinga Nadiope Gabula IV (Read story here).

First, Prime Minister Katuukiro Dr Joseph Muvawala issued a statement insisting Nadiope Gabula IV was still Kyabazinga and would rule Busoga until he dies.

Hours later, the six chiefs called a press conference to cement their position on the ‘sacking’ of Kyabazinga Gabula IV. (Read what they said here).

Kyabazinga Nadiope Gabula IV has since cracked the whip against some the chiefs, with their vehicles (which had been donated by President Museveni) confiscated, while others have been dethroned. (Read story here).

DEMAND FOR HANDOVER

Luba VII, the secretary of the Busoga Chiefs Royal Council, and his colleagues reminded Gabula Nadiope IV that as they previously notified him, they reaffirmed Wambuzi as the “legitimate” kyabazinga as was the case on October 31, 2008.

They then demanded that he hands over office.

“The purpose of this letter is to further notify and remind your Royal Highness to prepare for the handover of the seat of the Kyabazinga of Obwa Kyabazinga bwa Busoga, and all instruments, and institutional properties of Obwa Kyabazinga Bwa Busoga,” wrote Luba VII.

“The schedule for our Royal Chief Council meetings will be communicated to you as the Gabula of Bugabula through Issabalangira of obwa Kyabazinga bwa Busoga HRH Yokonia Kawanguzi aka the Hereditary Saza Royal Chief of Busiki.”
