A Mbarara University student has collapsed and died while preparing for exams. The sudden death of the student who has been identified as Marvin Nowembabazi has left many students and staff at Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) in shock and grief.
MUST Dean of Students Ambrose K Mugisha has confirmed the death of Marvin Nowembabazi, a student at the Faculty of Business and Management Sciences.
“Mbarara University of Science and Technology regrets to announce the untimely passing of Mr. Nowembabazi Marvin , a student from the Faculty of Business and Management Sciences (BPSM III) who passed away on May 29, 2026,” announced Mugisha.
“The University community extends its heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, classmates, and the entire MUST fraternity during this difficult time. May his soul rest in eternal peace.”
It is said that Marvin Nowembabazi suddenly collapsed before he was pronounced dead, triggering sadness across the university community.
Popularly known as Mosh, Marvin Nowembabazi was a third year student pursuing a Bachelor of Procurement degree at Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST).
Students say that Nowembabazi was preparing for an examination paper, part of end of semester exams, when he collapsed and died.
He breathed his last in the morning of Friday, 29 May 2026. It is said that he was in a group discussion on campus when he collapsed.
Friends and classmates described him as calm, humble as well as one who exuded positive energy. Marvin Nowembabazi will be laid to rest at his ancestral home in Rwampara on Sunday, May 31, 2026, according to Mugisha, the Dean of Students.
