The man was killed at about 3am on May 24, 2025 when he tried to run away after he realized that the police officer on guard at the home of John Mulimba, Uganda’s junior minister in charge of regional affairs.
The deceased had managed to climb over a perimeter wall and tried to access the minister’s home.
The incident took place in Bugunduhira Village, Dabani Sub County of Busia District in eastern Uganda. Local police are treating the incident as an act of attempted burglary by an intruder.
The house in Bugunduhira is one of the known homes of Minister Mulimba, with another residence, which serves as the main one, in Bulumbi.
The deceased was in his twenties, according to Busia District Police Commander (DPC) Alice Kuka.

Village leaders have been quoted as saying that suspected burglars had previously tried to enter into Mulimba’s home.
