Kampala City Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago is currently admitted at Nairobi Hospital in Kenya after collapsing during the requiem mass for fallen Kampala Archdiocese Archbishop Cyprian Kizito Lwanga at Lubaga Cathedral.
In an update about her boss’ health condition, deputy Lord Mayor Doreen Nyanjura confirmed Lukwago had travelled to Nairobi for further treatment.
Nyanjura revealed Lukwago had sought treatment at several Kampala hospitals but his condition had persisted.
“Following a recurring dizziness, persistent abdominal discomfort and severe chest pain despite attending several medical facilities in Kampala including Lubaga Hospital, Platinum Hospital, Case Hospital, Norvik Hospital among others, the Lord Mayor was referred to Nairobi Hospital for further management,” said Nyanjura on April 11.
“Consequently, he traveled to Nairobi earlier this week, arrived safely and was checked into Nairobi Hospital.”
Lukwago had collapsed during Lwanga’s requiem mass, but doctors at Lubaga Hospital had advised him to have enough rest.
According to the deputy Lord Mayor, Lukwago is out of danger.
“I spoke to the Lord Mayor today morning, he is stable and undergoing numerous tests,” she said.
This is the second time Lukwago is returning to Nairobi for treatment in recent months.
