Results and declarations from LC5 Chairperson Elections across the country continue to trickle in. The elections were held on January 22 across the country, with voters turning out to elect their local leaders, including LC5 chairpersons, city mayors, municipality mayors, and other local government leaders.
Winners
– Tororo District: John Okea (NRM) – 139,305 votes
– Mitooma District: Abel Karitundu
– Ibanda District: Happy Herbert Mayanja (NRM) – unopposed
– Kabale District: Nzeirwe Denis Ndyomugyenyi (NRM)
– Rubanda District: Stephen Ampaire Kasyaba (NRM) – 55,318 votes (74.36%)
– Buhweju District: Atuhaire Deo – 22,231 votes
– Isingiro District: Aron Turahi
– Ntungamo District: Sam Mucunguzi
– Bushenyi District: Prosper Twebaze
– Rubirizi District: Obed Agaba
– Sheema District: Jemimah Buhanda
– Kitagwenda District: Ephrance Kenyonyozi (NRM) – unopposed
Losers
– Tororo District: John Obbo (Independent) – 31,826 votes
– Rubanda District: Twinomujuni Julius Buzare (Independent) – 19,079 votes (25.64%)
– Buhweju District: Muhamya Phillip Panadol – 19,754 votes
