Here's How Much LC5 Chairpersons, Mayors, Speakers & Other Local Government Leaders Earn Every Month LIST: Winners and Losers of LC5 Chairperson Elections 2026

Results and declarations from LC5 Chairperson Elections across the country continue to trickle in. The Pearl Times presents the list of winners and losers from various districts as the announcements are made. We will keep updating this report: ‘LIST: Winners and Losers of LC5 Chairperson Elections 2026.’

The elections were held on January 22 across the country, with voters turning out to elect their local leaders, including LC5 chairpersons, city mayors, municipality mayors, and other local government leaders.

  • Amuria District: Isaac Okello (NRM)
  • Bugiri District: Davidson Kasajja Mulumba (NRM)
  • Bugweri District: Kimark Hamidu (NUP)
  • Buhweju District: Atuhaire Deo – 22,231 votes
  • Buikwe District: George Wasswa (NUP)
  • Buliisa District: Twairi Wandera Atuhairwe (Independent)
  • Bunyangabu District: Peter Musinguzi (NRM)
  • Bushenyi District: Prosper Twebaze (NRM)
  • Hoima District: Uthuman Mugisha Mubarak
  • Ibanda District: Happy Herbert Mayanja (NRM) – unopposed
  • Isingiro District: Aron Turahi (NRM)
  • Jinja District: Moses Batwala (NRM)
  • Kabale District: Nzeirwe Denis Ndyomugyenyi (NRM)
  • Kabarole District: Ruben Kimome
  • Kalangala District: Agnes Lunkuse (NRM)
  • Kalungu District: Ahmed Mukiibi Nyombi (NUP)
  • Kazo District: Rev Samuel Mugisha Katugunda (NRM)
  • Kitagwenda District: Ephrance Kenyonyozi (NRM) – unopposed
  • Kyegegwa District: Norman Birungi (NRM)
  • Kyenjojo District: Gilbert Rubaihayo (NRM)
  • Masaka District: John Kakande (NRM)
  • Mayuge District: David Ziija (NRM)
  • Mitooma District: Abel Karitundu
  • Mpigi District: Simon Peter Kawuki (NUP)
  • Mukono District: Francis Lukooya Mukoome (NRM)
  • Nakaseke District: Ignatius Koomu Kiwanuka (NRM)
  • Ngora District: James Robert Otim (NRM)
  • Ntoroko District: Etyen Muhumuza (NRM)
  • Ntungamo District: Sam Mucunguzi (NRM)
  • Rubanda District: Stephen Ampaire Kasyaba (NRM) – 55,318 votes (74.36%)
  • Rubirizi District: Obed Agaba
  • Rukiga District: Simon Mutebi (NRM)
  • Sheema District: Jemimah Buhanda
  • Tororo District: John Okea (NRM) – 139,305 votes
  • Wakiso District: Ian Kyeyune (NRM)

Losers

– Tororo District: John Obbo (Independent) – 31,826 votes

– Rubanda District: Twinomujuni Julius Buzare (Independent) – 19,079 votes (25.64%)

– Buhweju District: Muhamya Phillip Panadol – 19,754 votes

Voter turnout was low compared to the presidential and parliamentary elections held a week earlier, with many citizens citing lack of interest in local government polls. See number of voters in Buganda, Ankole and other regions in presidential elections Here.
