The list of Western Uganda’s best UCE 2024 schools, comprising examination centres (schools) with most As (A scores) is out after an analysis by The Pearl Times.
The analysis followed the release of New Lower Secondary Curriculum (NLSC) UCE 2024 results by assessment body Uganda National Examinations Board (Uneb) and the education ministry.
As The Pearl Times has explained, the new grading system for NLSC does not include grades or divisions or even the number of aggregates or points.
It is just scores of A, B, C, D and E, and a result that indicates if one has passed well enough to proceed to the next level or not.
Therefore, in the ranking method used here, we look at schools with the most As in all subjects.
The numbers of As count is bigger than the total candidature for a school or Uneb centre because a candidate can score As in all subjects.
The list of Western Uganda’s Best UCE 2024 Schools has at least five schools per district.
In cases where a district does not have at least five schools managing A scores, only the ones meeting this criterion have been included.
Our analysis shows that the names of the list of Western Uganda’s Best UCE 2024 Schools under the new competence based curriculum are largely the same as those on our previous lists during the old curriculum (content based curriculum).
