The list of Western Uganda’s best UCE 2023 schools, comprising examination centres (schools) with average aggregates fitting in first grade (Division One) and a good second grade (Division Two), is out after an analysis by The Pearl Times.
The analysis followed the release of UCE 2023 results by assessment body Uganda National Examinations Board (Uneb) and the education ministry.
One of the common methods for ranking best performing schools is the average aggregate score. (The Pearl Times editor has previously explained the average scores Here).
But the method gives schools with fewer candidates an advantage over those with bigger number. So, while The Pearl Times ranking of Western Uganda’s best UCE 2023 schools has considered the average aggregate score, the analysis desk has categorized the schools into two: an average of first grade, and an average of good second grade.
A school which has more candidates ranks higher than that with fewer candidates in the same category (first grade or good second grade).
