LIST: See Uganda's 20 Most Highly Paid Government Employees in 2024 -- and How Much They Earn OLEMWA! IGG Beti Kamya to be Investigated Over Corruption Saga

An analysis of the 2024-2025 Financial Year government salary structure shows Uganda’s most paid government employees, men and women who earn over Shs17m every month, more than millions of Ugandans can each manage to earn every year. 

The list does not include cabinet ministers, MPs and executive directors of departments and government agencies, some of whom earn even more.

According to the public service salary structure for this financial year, Inspector General of Government (IGG) Beti Olive Namisango Kamya Turwomwe is the most paid public servant.

Every month, Kamya, a former minister and opposition presidential candidate, smiles to the bank for her Shs37m every month or about Shs450m every year! The Auditor General follows with Shs36.1m every month.

In number three is the Deputy Inspector General of Government (D-1GG)  who earns Shs 32 million every month, in number four is Chief Justice whose monthly salary is Shs 26.5 million, followed by Deputy Chief Justice who gets Shs 25 million.

In number six is the Principal Judge whose monthly salary is Shs 24 million, in number seven is a Justice of the Supreme Court who earns Shs 23.5 million, while in number eight is a Justice of the Court of Appeal who earns Shs 23 million.

In number nine is the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) who gets Shs 22.5 million every month, a Judge of the High Court who also gets Shs 22.5 million, and the Executive Director (Aviation/Presidential Crew) who also earns Shs 22.5 million.

In number 12 is the Chief Engineer (Aviation) who earns Shs 21.6 million every month, in number 13 is a Chief Pilot who earns Shs 21.6 million, in number 14 is a Chairperson of a National Commission whose monthly salary is Shs 21.2 million.

In number 15 is a Captain (Aviation)  whose monthly salary is Shs 20.25 million, followed by the Chief Registrar (Judiciary) who earns Shs 20 million, while the Deputy Chairperson of Government National Commission is in the 17th position, earning Shs 20 million every month.

Tying in number 18 are: the Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions (D-DPP), First Officer (Aviation), a Pilot, and a Vice Chancellor of a Public University, with each earning Shs 20 million.
