LIST: See Expired Courses at Mbarara University of Science & Technology (MUST) and Gulu University (June 2024)

Courses are Either Due for Review or Under Review by NCHE

In the second part of our reports on expired courses or academic programs in Ugandan universities and institutes, The Pearl Times focuses on two more universities: Mbarara University of Science and Technology (Must) and Gulu University, both public universities.

These lists of expired courses at Must and Gulu University are based on data from the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) as accessed by The Pearl Times on June 22, 2024. The data at NCHE may change as review of courses is an ongoing process.

EXPIRED COURSES OR ACADEMIC PROGRAMS AT GULU UNIVERSITY

At Gulu University, a total of 22 courses or academic programs are considered expired: they are either due for review by NCHE or under review by the same regulator. These academic programs in questions are at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

Gulu University’s expired undergraduate courses or academic programs include: Bachelor of Applied Sciences Chemistry, Bachelor of Arts Education, Bachelor of Development Studies, and Bachelor of Information Technology – Business Computing.

Also due for review or under review at undergraduate level are: Bachelor of Science Economics, Bachelor of Science Education (Biologicals), Bachelor of Science Education (Physical), Bachelor of Science Education (Sport and Exercise Science), Bachelor of Science Education –Economics and Bachelor of Science in Agri-Entrepreneurship and Communication Management.

The list of Gulu University’s expired undergraduate courses or academic programs also includes: Bachelor of Science in Biosystems Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Food and Agribusiness, Diploma in Computer Science, Diploma in Development studies and Diploma in Secretarial and Information Management.

At graduate or postgraduate level, expired courses or academic programs include: Master of Arts in Conflict Transformation Studies, Master of Arts in Public Administration and Management, Master of Public Administration and Management and Master of Science in Agri-Enterprises Development.

Also under review or due for review are: Master of Science in Applied Tropical Entomology and Parasitology, Master of Science in Food Security and Community Nutrition and Master of Science in Information and Communication Technologies for Development.

EXPIRED COURSES OR ACADEMIC PROGRAMS AT MBARARA UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (MUST)

For Must, The Pearl Times has found a little over 20 courses or academic programs that have expired and are therefore due for review by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE), the regulator responsible for ensuring that the content of the programs approved are up to standard and are of high quality.

At Must, undergraduate courses or academic programs that have expired include: Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting and Finance, Bachelor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Economics, and Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy – Completion.

The others are: Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy -Direct Entry, Bachelors of Medical Laboratory Sciences (Diploma Entry) as well as a Diploma in Emergency Medicine for Emergency Care Practitioners.

At graduate or post-graduate level, courses or academic courses that have expired include: Master of Medicine in Anaesthesiology, Master of Medicine in Emergency Medicine, Master of Medicine in Internal Medicine and Master of Medicine in Ophthalmology.

Also due for review is the Master of Medicine in Otorhinolarynology, Master of Medicine in Radiology, Master of Pharmacy (Clinical Pharmacy), Master of Science in Anatomy, Master of Science in Pharmacognosy and Natural Medicine Science as well as Masters of Medicine in General Surgery.

The other courses or academic programs that have expired are: Masters of Science in Physiology, Postgraduate Diploma in Business Informatics, Postgraduate Diploma in Health Information Technology as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Information Systems.
