The Office of Academic Registrar at Makerere University has released the list with names of students admitted on government sponsorship under Mature Age Entry for the 2026-2027 academic year.
The successful candidates were among those who had applied for the available slots under this scheme.

Applicants sat mature age entry examinations whose results form a significant part in choosing who and who does not qualify for admission on government sponsorship.
Annually, government offers 4,000 scholarships for students joining the public universities of Makerere, Kyambogo, Mountains of the Moon, Kabale, Mbarara, Gulu, Muni, Soroti, and Lira.
The government sponsorship is divided into several categories. The National Merit Scheme (Direct Entry Admissions) is the largest category, admitting top-performing students from across the country.
Apart from the Mature Age Entry Scheme, here is also the District Quota Scheme under which students are selected based on their district of origin, aiming for national representation.
There are also Special Schemes. These include 40 slots for talented sportspersons and 64 slots for persons with disabilities.
