On the evening of Thursday, September 18, 2025, Tanga Odoi had the last laugh as son Collins Tanga beat Brenda Kiconco to become NRM youth league chairperson.
As we reported previously, Collins Tanga had been declared the winner of the NRM youth league chairperson election last month during the delegates conference of the ruling National Resistance Movement held at Kololo Independence Grounds.
But the election of Collins Tanga was cancelled by the NRM Election Disputes Tribunal which ruled that the son to the NRM Electoral Commission chairperson Tanga Odoi did not win fairly.
Tanga Odoi himself had declared his son Collins Tanga the NRM youth league chairperson on top of presiding over the election – which raised concerns of conflict of interest.
It was based on this that the NRM tribunal ordered a repeat election and directed that Tanga Odoi should stay away from the exercise.
But now, according to results released by the NRM EC, Collins Tanga beat Brenda Kiconco by a comfortable margin.
Collins Tanga garnered 2,185 votes or 68 per cent while Brenda Kiconco managed 1,017 votes or 32 of the total votes cast.
The election of Collins Tanga now completes NRM leagues’ elections and the party’s CEC structure. (See list of NRM CEC winners and losers Here and There).
