ICT and national guidance minister Judith Nabakooba says second deputy Prime Minister Kirunda Kivejinja is still alive but admitted in Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Earlier on December 10, social media reports claimed Kivejinja had passed on.
But the office of the National Chairman (ONC) of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), for which Kivejinja is member, dismissed the reports.
Minister Nabakooba has also confirmed Kivejinja is not dead but revealed he was in ICU at the Mulago National Referral Hospital.
“Disregard the false information circulating on social media about the death of the Second Deputy Prime Minister Rt. Hon Alhaji Kirunda kivejinja,” Nabakooba said.
“He is still alive though in ICU under care.”
She further explained that the deputy prime minister’s “blood pressure and sugar [levels] are under control.”
Capt Mike Mukula, the National Vice Chairman NRM Eastern, said Kivejinja was “battling for his life.” He asked Ugandans to pray for the aged deputy prime minister.
“Health is GOD GIVEN let’s pray for Rt Hon Kirunda Kivejinja who is battling for his life under the support of our doctors in Mulago National Hospital,” said Mukula.
