Comedian Yokana Mbuuse, popularly known as Kapere Lufotose, will be laid to rest on Tuesday, November 3, at land he purchased in Kiyunga, Mukono District, according to his manager, Director Kayanja.
Kayanja said the comedian had expressed his wish to be buried on the land he acquired through his own efforts, telling his friends, his wife, Lydia Nakandi, and their son, Trump, about his preferred final resting place.

The family and friends intend to honour that wish, which Kayanja described as Kapere’s will and testament.
The announcement comes as preparations for the comedian’s final send-off gather pace, with the National Unity Platform (NUP), which he supported, organising a farewell ceremony at its headquarters in Makerere Kavule, Kampala.
The party confirmed that the ceremony would take place at 2:00pm on Monday, November 2.
“Today at 2:00pm, join us at the National Unity Platform Headquarters as we say farewell to our comrade, Mbuuse Yokana aka Kapere Lufotose,” NUP said in a statement.
Kayanja said the comedian’s body would be taken from the funeral home to the party headquarters, where NUP leaders, members and supporters are expected to pay their final respects to the entertainer.
There had also been plans to take Kapere’s body to the National Theatre, where fellow artists and fans could gather to celebrate his life and contribution to Uganda’s entertainment industry. However, those arrangements had not been confirmed by the time of publication.
Kapere Lufotose’s final days
Kapere died on Sunday evening, November 1, at Royale Health Services Hospital in Buddo, Wakiso District, following a sudden medical emergency.
His wife, Lydia Nakandi, previously recounted that the comedian had been in a cheerful mood while attending a family function before his condition deteriorated.
Kapere was rushed to hospital, where he later died. Preliminary accounts indicated that he had suffered complications associated with a hernia.
Born Yokana Mbuuse, Kapere rose to prominence through Uganda’s Amarula Family comedy group, becoming widely recognised for his distinctive humour, performances and memorable stage persona.
Beyond comedy, he was a supporter of NUP and maintained friendships with several figures in the opposition party.
His death has drawn tributes from fellow entertainers, political leaders and fans, many of whom have remembered him for his contribution to Uganda’s comedy scene.
NUP President Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, also mourned the comedian, recalling the different names by which he was known to his family, friends and fans.
As preparations continue for his burial in Mukono, the Kavule farewell ceremony will provide an opportunity for his political comrades and supporters to honour the entertainer before his final journey.
Meanwhile, months before he died, Comedian Kapere Lufotose had banned fellow comedians from attending his burial ceremony. (See Details Here).
