Francis Paul Wambi Kadaga, the youngest brother to Speaker of Uganda’s Parliament Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga, was laid to rest on December 10.
Wambi’s burial happened in Busobya Village, Mbulamuti, in Kamuli District.
He was Speaker Kadaga’s only surviving brother.
Speaker Kadaga has thanked those who stood with her in the difficult moment.
“I thank all those who have spared time to comfort us during this trying moment. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” Kadaga said.
Contrary to reports that Wambi had succumbed to Covid19, Kadaga revealed that two conditions had claimed her brother’s life.
He passed on after a battle with ulcers and eventual asphyxia.
According to online medical resources, asphyxia or asphyxiation is a condition of deficient supply of oxygen to the body that arises from abnormal breathing.
Choking is listed as one example of asphyxia. Deprivation of oxygen to the body may be related to Covid19 symptoms.
But the family didn’t mention Covid19 as cause of Wambi’s death.
The Pearl Times has learnt that in the Kamuli District Woman MP campaigns, supporters of Kadaga and her opponent Proscovia Salaamu Musumba have been claiming either side and candidate have Covid19.
Aides have been listed as some of those who had contracted the disease.
But the speaker, in her capacity as the second national vice chairperson of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), was at recently at a meeting addressed by party chairman and president of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni.
All people who attend Museveni’s meetings are screened for Covid19 and participants must be negative to be allowed to enter the meeting venue.
