Kabaka Speaks on His Health Condition, Return from Namibia

This is the First Time Kabaka is Speaking to His Subjects in Months

Buganda Kingdom’s monarch Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II has broken silence on his health condition and hinted on his return from Nairobi where he is taking some rest and receiving treatment.

Kabaka noted he had taken a break from most of his kingly duties and had not spoken to his subjects for some time because he was following his doctors’ recommendations.

The Kabaka said his health condition was improving and that he hoped to leave Namibia and return home soon. He thanked God for the gift of life and applauded his subjects in Buganda Kingdom for keeping him in their prayers.

He also thanked his subjects for not losing hope amidst “great challenges” and during his physical absence from the kingdom. He also saluted Prime Minister (Katikkiro) Charles Peter Mayiga, ministers and officials for keeping the kingdom running during the months he has been out of the country.

In a video sent from Namibia, the Kabaka also said he was following developments back home and was encouraged by the commitment exhibited in doing the kingdom’s work. He also saluted the subjects who have continued observing the cultural values and practices in “these tough times.”

Emphasizing the power of unity, the Kabaka urged the kingdom’s subjects to remain united. The Kabaka’s address brings great relief to Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga who had been under pressure from some subjects demanding that he brings back the Kabaka.

Others were also claiming that the Kabaka was not getting the best treatment,  piling pressure on the Katikkiro to ensure that the king gets better medical attention from top specialized hospitals in the world.

In a recent phone conversation with the Katikkiro, the Kabaka sent a warning to those taking advantage of his sickness for their selfish interests, especially after it emerged that he was at a mental hospital in Namibia. (See Details Here and There).
