Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, the reigning monarch of Buganda Kingdom, has asked all Muslim subjects to ask God to save the cultural institution’s properties and land from thieves and grabbers.
In his Eid al-Fitr message, which was issued in Luganda, Kabaka Mutebi II said that Buganda was going through trials regarding its efforts to protects its land and properties.
“Keep praying to God to save us from thieves who are keen on grabbing our properties and our land,” said the Kabaka.
“Ask God to help overcome this trying moment that we are going through.”

Uganda’s central region, where Buganda Kingdom is located, is the epicenter of land grabbing and fraudulent land deals in the country.

The central government is also yet to pay Buganda billions in rent arrears for occupying the kingdom’s properties until 2013.
Recently, Mengo confirmed it had received Shs9bn as part of the Shs215.8bn debt in rent arrears.
