Uganda’s President and Commander in Chief (CiC) of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF), Gen Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni, has appointed a total of 35 General Officers and Senior Officers of the country’s national army.
Among notable appointments is that of Col Deogratias Asiimwe Akiiki who has been re-appointed Deputy Defence Spokesperson of the UPDF, a position he held before he went for a course.
Lt Col Ronald Kungu Kakurungu, the officer who has been the Deputy Spokesperson of the UPDF while Col Akiiki was away, has been appointed Deputy Director of Strategic Communications.
Akiiki will work with his most immediate boss Brig Gen Felix Kulayigye, who replaced Brig Gen Flavia Byekwaso months ago.
Commenting on the appointments and transfers, UPDF and Defence Spokesperson Kulayigye said: “The Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs and UPDF fraternity congratulate the General and senior officers upon their well-deserved appointments.”
These appointments come less than two weeks since Gen Museveni fired the Special Forces Command (SFC) chief, replacing him with a new one. (Read Story Here).
