JOB ALERT: Police Recruiting Over 400 Drivers

The Uganda Police Force has announced it is recruiting over 434 drivers for several categories of vehicles. Police says it is recruiting Probationer Police Constables to offer logistical support, vehicle maintenance, and personnel transportation services.

According to Director of Human Resource Management, AIGP Jesse Kamunanwire, the recruitment, which is aimed at boosting police transport and logistics department, will see five drivers for light trucks hired.

Police will also hire 30 drivers for heavy commercial trucks, 10 for buses, five for coasters, 10 for minibuses, 364 for light 4×4 vehicles, and 10 for construction equipment.

Regarding the eligibility criteria, applicants must be Ugandan citizens with valid National Identification Numbers (NIN), have a Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or its equivalent, and possess a valid driving permit for the specific vehicle class with at least three years of driving experience.

Successful applicants must also be physically and medically fit, ready to undergo 12 months of police basic training, and be prepared to work long hours in challenging environments in any part of the country.

They must also have no criminal record and must not be former or serving members of any security force; and should also demonstrate good communication skills.

On the application process, candidates must submit handwritten applications addressed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), and accompanied by a photocopy of their UCE certificate, a valid driving permit, three recent passport-sized photos, and a copy of their National ID.

Candidates should also submit recommendation letters from LCI, LCIII, and the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of their district of residence.

Kamunanwire further noted that all applications must be submitted in a file folder to the nearest Police District or Divisional Headquarters by July 4, 2025.

Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted for interviews on dates to be announced later, added the police human resources director.

UPF also warned applicants against impersonation and submission of forged documents. Kamunanwire warned that culprits will be arrested and prosecuted.

Police encouraged female applicants to apply.
