Jacob Oulanyah reportedly rushed to Nairobi

A day after Parliament dismissed claims that Speaker of Parliament Jacob Oulanyah was critically ill, another report has claimed the head of Uganda’s legislative arm of government has been flown to Nairobi, enroute to London for specialized treatment.

Daily Pepper, a tabloid that first published the allegations dared Parliament to share a video of Oulanyah to prove that he was healthy, in good spirits and working from home.

The sensational news publication has its June 24 edition accused Parliament, its director of Communications and Public Affairs Chris Obore and the Speaker’s Office of coverup regarding Jacob Oulanyah’s health condition.

A story written by Daily Pepper managing editor Venescias Kiiza has now claimed Oulanyah is frail and has been rushed to Nairobi, and that he was set to be flown to London, UK.

The newspaper’s lead headline shouted: “Frail speaker flown out: Oulanyah medically evacuated to Kenya, enroute to London.’

It also claimed there was a ‘storm over Jacob’s health coverup.’

Pearl Times News couldn’t independently verify the claims in the tabloid’s reports.

But sources at Parliament told this publication the directorate of Communications and Public Affairs was preparing a comprehensive statement on Speaker Oulanyah’s health in response to press reports.
