Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) leader Maj Gen (Rtd) Gregg Mugisha Muntu has spoken out on Democratic Party (DP) President General’s cooperation agreement with President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni.
On July 20, Mao and Museveni signed a cooperation agreement following their meeting at State House Entebbe. A day later, Mao was appointed by Museveni as the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs.
The cooperation has been criticized by most members of the opposition who have called the deal a step in the wrong direction regarding the struggle to end Museveni’s rule. In Mao’s DP, there are stark disagreements on the cooperation agreement.
Reacting on the cooperation agreement and the DP leader’s appointment as Justice and Constitutional Affairs Minister, Maj Gen Muntu, a former national army commander and 2021 presidential candidate, warned Mao of the consequences of the route he had taken.
Muntu warned Mao, also a 2021 presidential candidate, of the treachery and rife on the new path.
“It is a high stakes gamble. The road they are going to walk is quite slippery and rife with treacherous obstacles as well. I hope they have boots with an extraordinary tight grip,” said Muntu when prompted by a local journalist to offer his quick view on the matter.
Meanwhile, Norbert Mao has insisted that he will not resign as party president despite crossing to Museveni’s government. (Read Story Here).
