Uganda Police Force (UPF) Director of Medical Services Dr Moses Byaruhanga has spoken out on the health condition of police chief Inspector General of Police (IGP) Martins Okoth Ochola.
As we have reported recently, IGP Ochola has not made any public appearance in about four months.
Today, Internal Affairs Ministry units UPF and Uganda Prisons Service (UPS) officials appeared before Parliament’s Defence Committee.
Both IGP Ochola, and chief jailer Commissioner of Prisons Johnson Byabashaija didn’t show up.
Officials from police and Prisons said both Ochola and Byabashaija are unwell.
Dr Byaruhanga revealed that IGP Ochola’s condition gets worse whenever he is faced with stressful situations.
The UPD director of medical services further explained that doctors had advised the police chief to avoid stressful situations such as appearances before parliamentary committees.
In police’s brief to the committee, Brig Gen Christopher Damulira, the Director of Crime Intelligence, noted that in the past three weeks, Greater Masaka Area has been calm after a spate of bijambiya attacks that claimed the lives of about 30 people.
