Assistant Inspector of Police (AIGP) Asan Kasingye has confirmed he has handed over the office of the Chief Political Commissar of the Uganda Police Force (UPF).
Kasingye handed over office to his deputy ACP Hillary Kulaige.
The police officer said he had neither quit nor resigned but his contract had expired and he was required to hand over.
Kasingye said there was a likelihood of his contract being renewed.
“Contrary to online reports that I ‘quit,’ ‘resigned,’ the fact is, my contract expired and had to handover,” said Kasingye.
“It may be renewed or not. I am proud to bow out head high.”
But President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni has not been keen on renewing contracts of top officers from the Gen Kale Kayihura-era.
