Popular Ugandan TikToker Antony Katongole, who goes by the social media name Chicken Chicken, has apologized to Rwandan President Paul Kagame and all Rwandans over comments he had made about them.
Following the statements made in an interview Antony Katongole aka Chicken Chicken was told by some that he had crossed the red line and that he could have angered Kagame and Rwandans.
At first, TikToker Chicken Chicken insisted that he had been fair in his analysis of Rwanda.
“I don’t know why everyone is on my neck about the words I said in my interview about Rwanda. I dint @buse the country but I listed the good and bad things I found in Kigali just like others talk about Uganda because no country is perfect,” he noted, adding, “I offended you my dear Rwandese, I am sorry.”
However, when he learnt of how powerful Kagame (which he – at 25 years – did not know), he made his apology a little serious.
For example, Chicken Chicken was shocked to learn that Kagame had been part of President Yoweri Museveni’s National Resistance Army (NRA) bush war and that he knew some Ugandan languages, including Luganda and Runyankore-Rukiga.
Realizing how serious the matter was, Chicken Chicken went on his knees and apologized to Rwanda and Kagame.
He said that he did not have children – that some women claim he had fathered with them – and that he cannot imagine rotting in prison because of the statements he made about Rwanda (even if he had earlier thought they were fair).
“Imagine rotting in prison just because of a five-letter word … Sorry, Rwanda. It will never happen again,” Chicken Chicken apologized.
Kagame is one of the most feared presidents in Africa, with his critics and some presidents of neighboring countries complaining of his actions. (See Details Here, There and Over There).
