President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has appointed seven judges, including one of Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo’s wives Florence Nakachwa, to the High Court and Court of Appeal.
In line with the powers derived from Article 142(1) of the 1995 Constitution and on recommendation of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), Museveni appointed Justice Eva Kavuma Luswata and Christopher Gashirabake to the Court of Appeal.
The president also appointed Tom Chemutai, Lawrence Tweyanze, Vincent Wagona, Alice Komuhangi and Florence Nakachwa to the High Court.
Nakachwa, of the wives of CJ Owiny-Dollo would be jobless soon had Museveni not appointed her to the High Court.
Currently the deputy director at the Law Development Center (LDC), Nakachwa would have to leave the job once new structural changes are implemented.
Soon, LDC, presently headed by Director General Frank Othembi will not have the position of deputy director.
Instead, there will be regional directors for campuses spread across the country.
But now, according to a notice of appointments sent to Speaker of Parliament Jacob L’Okori Oulanyah on August 13, Museveni has saved Nakachwa from ‘katebe.’
