HERE’S THE KILLER: Policeman Who Killed Indian Money Lender Finally Arrested

The Police Officer who shot and killed an Indian money lender at Raja Chambers has been arrested, Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) spokesperson Patrick Onyango has confirmed.

Police’s official records indicate that on May 12, 2023 at around 1230 hours, while at Raja Chambers along Parliamentary Avenue in Kampala, No. 67029 Police Constable Ivan Wabwire shot dead Uttam Bhandari, an Indian by Nationality and the director of TFS Financial Services.

Onyango says that a joint team of security arrested the suspect in Busia District. He added that on May 13, 2023,  Flying Squad Unit operatives joined the territorial police of Busia in hunting for PC Wabwire.

And at about 0700 hours on May 14, 2023, Wabwire was arrested in Busia Municipality at Customs by a joint team commanded by SP Didas Byaruhanga, the Busia District Police Commander (DPC) Busia.

Wabwire, the 30 year old police officer attached to CPS Kampala, is currently detained at CPS Busia pending transfer to CPS Kampala, added Onyango.

“We want to thank the officers who worked for the last 42 hours to ensure that Wabwire is arrested.”

Wabwire had attempted to travel to Rukungiri aboard a bus but reportedly jumped out after he learnt that police officers were trailing him.

Following the killing of the Indian money lender by the Ugandan police officer, President Museveni demanded answers to these six questions as posed to IGP Ochola and his team. (See Details Here).

It has also been revealed that PC Wabwire had a strange health condition and Kampala CPS had banned him from touching guns. You can read our report on how the rogue police officer got the gun he used to kill the Indian businessman Here.
