Ggaba Trial: Strong Wind Disorganizes Tent After Suspect Christopher Okello Onyum’s Arrival

The public court session involving Christopher Okello Onyum, the prime suspect in the murder of four children, was temporarily delayed after heavy rains swept through the area.

The sudden downpour, accompanied by strong winds, disrupted the main tent at the court venue shortly after the suspect’s arrival. The structure was partially disorganized, forcing security personnel to quickly intervene.

Authorities escorted Onyum away from the scene as a precautionary measure to ensure his safety and allow officials to regain control of the situation.

The case, presided over by Alice Komuhangi Khaukha, has drawn widespread public attention due to the gravity of the allegations. Prosecutors accuse Onyum of involvement in the killing of four minors in a case that has deeply shocked the community.

According to earlier court proceedings, the prosecution has been presenting witnesses to support its case, with testimonies focusing on events surrounding the incident and the suspect’s alleged connection to them.

The proceedings have also been overshadowed by a serious incident that occurred a day earlier at the same venue. A journalist, identified as Ronald Mulwana, was injured after a Uganda Prisons van transporting the suspect reportedly lost control due to brake failure and knocked him down. He was rushed to hospital for treatment after sustaining serious injuries.

Court proceedings have since resumed following the stabilization of weather conditions and restoration of order at the venue, with the trial continuing under tight security.

The trial continues to attract large crowds, with heightened security deployed at the venue as members of the public follow proceedings closely, hoping for justice for the victims.

It should be remembered that yesterday, court could not proceed after Christopher Okello Onyum unexpectedly started laughing. He was taken to his doctor amidst questions on his mental health condition, as reported Here.

Meanwhile, the state is equally pursuing a file connecting Okello to a previous murder case. (See Details Here and There).

Okello insists he is not the one who killed Ggaba children, as reported Here.
