President Museveni
President Yoweri Museveni has ordered the judiciary on killer’s trial regarding Ggaba children killings. Museveni wants the judiciary to expedite the trial of Christopher Okello Onyum, the killer (who the legal minds choose to refer to as a suspect until he is proven guilty!)
Last week, Christopher Okello Onyum gained access to the Ggaba Early Childhood Development Program, a daycare centre, and killed four children.
Okello was arrested at the scene of the crime, Ggaba Early Childhood Development Program, before he could be lynched for his action of heartlessness that shocked the world.
It has now emerged that President Museveni has issued special orders for Okello’s trial. The president wants the trial proceedings of the killer to take place in the community where the killings happened.
The idea behind this directive is so that residents can see for themselves how justice is served.
The community-based mobile court is a new way of handling civilian cases.
According to Principal Judge Jane Frances Abodo, Museveni also wants a speedy trial of the matter involving the killing of the Ggaba daycare centre children.
“His Excellency [the president, Yoweri Museveni] says this case must be handled. Can you test the mobile court directives that you made as a Judiciary?” Abodo asked during the funeral service of retired Supreme Court Justice Augustine Nshimye in Kampala on April 06, 2026.
“Take the court to where the incident happened and handle the case there; and handle it fast. Of course, we always say that first in, first out; but there are exceptions, when they are public interest cases, they can be handled and I think this one fits that.”
Meanwhile, the Ggaba children’s killer was reportedly mentally sick, as reported Here.
