Furious Museveni Reveals Plan to Crush ADF Rebels in DR Congo

President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni has spoken out on what he plans to do to deal with Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels that he claims continue to make attacks on Ugandan citizens.

Among other attacks, Museveni and security agencies blame the ADF for the shooting involving works and transport minister Gen Edward Katumba Wamala on June 01.

On August 26, security agencies arrested a suspected suicide bomber in Pader.

UPDF spokesperson said the suspected terrorist, identified as Abdul Katumba aka Ben, planned to blow up people at the funeral, in Pader district, of former deputy police chief Lt Gen Paul Lokech.

“The ADF had, apparently, sent a suicide bomber there in Pader to kill mourners,” said Museveni.

“Fortunately, the main actor was arrested with his materials for making IEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices).”

Museveni made it clear he believed ADF, basing in DR Congo, was behind security raids in Uganda.

“The Plans and Orders for killing our people are coming from the terrorists in Eastern Congo.”

On what he plans to do, Museveni revealed that he would continue to seek the goodwill of DR Congo President Felix Tshisekedi.

He added that he would further raise the matter with the UN Security Council.

Gen Museveni also revealed that the UPDF was ready to teach the ADF ‘parasites’ a lesson.

“We are continuing to discuss with H.E. Tshisekedi about eliminating that cancer [of ADF],” said the president.

“I will also discuss with the representatives of the 5 Permanent Members of the Security Council because I hear that they are the  ones that control MONUSCO in Eastern Congo. It is not correct for MONUSCO to co-exist with the terrorists in Eastern Congo that continue to massacre Congolese and, then, disturb us the neighbours.”

He added: “The terrorists that, eventually, attacked our brothers in Mozambique, were, for long period, preparing themselves in Eastern Congo. Our forces are ready to contribute to the punishment of these parasites. We just need the concurrence of Congo Government.”
