Bigirwa, an outspoken regime critic had reportedly gone to receive money scale down social media offensives against Among in which he has variously accused her of corruption and incompetence.
Among had however set a trap for Bigirwa who unknowingly fell into it.
“Former Kamuli Municipality MP Aspirant Moses Bigirwa has been arrested at the entrance of the home of Rt. Hon. Anita Among in Nakasero where he had gone to extort money,” reads a statement trending on social media said to have originated from the Deputy Speaker’s office.
“He has been spreading hate campaign against the rt Hon Anita Among on social media and trying to extort money through blackmail.”
Bigirwa has for the last couple of months been launching a string of stinging attacks against Among whom he accuses of corruption, extortion and gross abuse of office.
He has loudly been calling for action from the Inspectorate of Government to investigate the Deputy Speaker who he says she has grown questionably rich following her ascension to the new role in such a short time.
