Five Killed in Bus Accident in Kiryandongo

Five killed in Kiryandongo bus accident

At least five people have been confirmed dead following a bus accident in Kiryandongo. A little over 10 people were injured in the same accident which involved two buses and a stationary truck.

The bus, registration number UBQ 350T, belonging to Mega Bus company was travelling from Kampala to Gulu when it collided with a truck, registration number UBF 576B, at California Village of Bweyale Town Council in Kiryandongo District.

The accident happened at around 2am on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.

Also involved in the accident was a Nile Bus registration number UA 657CM.

It is said that

At least 11 people who were injured were rushed to Kiryandongo General Hospital while others were taken to St Mary’s Hospital Lacor in Gulu.

Those who sustained injuries included Kennedy Mungudit, James Kilama, Salima Akili, Michael Omwony, Lillian Akello, Teddy Agwang, Florence Ajok, Florence Namanja, Janet Awidi, Mercy Vivian Aloyo and Wilbrod Odongo.

Albertine regional police has attributed the accident reckless driving. Investigations into the accident are ongoing.

Accidents involving buses have become common, with other recent ones including one involving a Tausi Bus on Mbarara-Bushenyi road, and another in Kyankwanzi district. (See Details Here and There).

Meanwhile, Ugandan military says it is conducting checkpoints to enforce traffic rules, as reported Here.
