Uganda’s Supreme Court has granted politician Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine’s request to withdraw his presidential election.
Bobi Wine, who lost to incumbent President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni in the January 14 election, had challenged the results of the poll.
But he decided to withdraw the petition over alleged bias on the side of judges.
On March 05, the Supreme Court allowed Bobi Wine to officially withdraw his petition.
Justice Stella Amoko Arach read the court’s judgement on the bench’s behalf.
“Considering that the respondents had no objection to the application for withdrawal, leave is hereby granted to the petitioner as prayed. The petition stands withdrawn,” read the ruling in part.
“The reasons and determination of costs shall be contained in ruling to be delivered on notice. This ruling is signed by all members of the quorum.”
