Azimio La Umoja presidential candidate Raila Amolo Odinga has lost the 2022 presidential election.
Odinga, who is a few years shy of 80 years of age, was declared first runner up of the presidential election at the Bomas of Kenya on Monday, August 15 evening after completion of tallying of results.
This was Odinga’s fifth attempt at the presidency having lost in 2002, 2007, 2013 and 2017. While many would have given up on the first few attempts, Raila refused to give up. Sadly for him, his perseverance has not paid off.
Son to founding vice president Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, Raila had the blessing of outgoing president Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta, son to Kenya’s founding president Jomo Kenyatta. On some occasions, Uhuru campaigned for Odinga.
It was not readily clear if Odinga was planning to challenge the results in the Supreme Court but his chief agent said the results had been tampered with.

Earlier, the IEBC declared William Ruto as the fifth president of the Republic of Kenya. (Read Story Here).
