FDC Breaks Silence on Reports of Salaamu Musumba Crossing to Museveni’s NRM

Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) President Patrick Oboi Amuriat (POA) has spoken out on reports that his vice president for eastern Uganda, Proscovia Salaamu Musumba, has crossed to the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).

Pictured at previous events with NRM bigwigs, including party national chairman President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni, Salaamu Musumba was recently rumored to have crossed to the ruling party.

Salaamu, whose husband Isaac Musumba has served in the Museveni government as a minister, unsuccessfully challenged former speaker, now deputy prime minister Rebecca Kadaga, in the 2021 parliamentary election for Kamuli.

In photos splashed on social media, Musumba is seen donning a yellow hat (yellow is the NRM official color) as well the blue one of FDC.

Now, FDC boss Amuriat has dismissed reports that Musumba has crossed to the NRM.

“Any NRM chap shouldn’t be excited about Salaamu’s actions. An imposed yellow cap won’t pass the criteria for her crossing from FDC⁦⁩ to the yellow bus,” said Amuriat.

“Our first Chairman will never be found selling her soul for mere silver and gold.”

Months ago, FDC vice president for central region, Joyce Ssebugwawo, crossed to the NRM and won a ministerial post.
