Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) speakers and deputy speakers for city hall and in the five divisions of Kawempe, Nakawa, Makindye, Rubaga and Central will start receiving millions of money in allowances every month.
This after the Minister for Kampala and Metropolitan Affairs Minsa Kabanda released a document showing the allowances each of them will get.
Kabanda also wrote to KCCA executive director Dorothy Kisaka on the matter.
“I would like to guide the implementation of this new structure of emoluments be urgently done to avoid unnecessary litigations,” said Kabanda.
Minister Kabanda had also secured a certificate of financial implications from finance minister Matia Kasaija, meaning that the money will be available.
While the speakers and their deputies had not received any coin in allowances since taking office, Minister Kabanda’s letter dated December 02 shows that the KCCA speaker will start getting Shs14.7m (14,758,000 Uganda Shillings) while the Deputy Speaker will be taking home Shs12.5m (12,570,000 Uganda Shillings) in allowances.
Divisional Speakers will be pocketing Shs10.7m (10,740,000 Uganda Shillings) while their deputies will be receiving Shs8.9m (8,950,000 Uganda Shillings).
