2026 Elections

DONE DEAL! Mathias Mpuuga to Run for President in 2026 as DP Bloc Sole Candidate

A group identifying itself as the Democratic Party (DP) Bloc says it’s unhappy with the main opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) of Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu aka Bobi Wine. DP Bloc has now blessed former leader of opposition in Parliament and Nyendo Mukungwe MP Mathias Mpuuga as their presidential candidate in the 2026 general elections.

DP Bloc is a faction of small political groups that disagreed with the main DP of Norbert Mao.

In the 2021 elections, a number of DP Bloc members joined the NUP and People Power Movement and some like Mpuuga were elected MPs.

But the DP Bloc members including former lawmaker Michael Mabikke and former presidential candidate Samuel Lubega Mukaaku, claim that a few individuals in the NUP and People Power Movement have hijacked the struggle and veered away from its ideals and goals.

Mabikke and Mukaaku led other disappointed members of the DP Bloc at a meeting in Namirembe, Kampala, meant to revive the bloc and make it great again.

They said Mpuuga was a man fit to carry the vision of the DP Bloc and take them to the promised land. That even when he has made mistakes like the controversial Shs500m award, he is the right man to wrestle Museveni out of power.

Weeks ago, court ruled that Mpuuga and other commissioners got the service award legally, making him blast his enemies to use their heads and not their mouths. Mpuuga has previously hinted on becoming president. (See Details Here and There).
