Museveni sends clear warning to all his ministers

President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni has delivered a clear message and warning to his cabinet ministers and junior (state) ministers regarding implementation of his government’s manifesto.

Furious because he had been frustrated by ministers who previously talked too much but failed to deliver services, Museveni has now made it clear he wouldn’t tolerate lip service when Ugandans are suffering.

On July 28, three ministers took oath.

These had skipped the main inauguration event and another mini-swearing ceremony for various reasons, including Covid19 cases among their staff.

Those that took oath were: Muruli Mukasa (Public Service), Sam Cheptoris (Water and Environment) and Fred Kyakulaga Bwino Minister (State for Agriculture).

In his remarks after the inauguration, Museveni told his ministers that time for jokes and useless talk had ended.

“The message to all ministers and all our leaders who have taken oath is: This kisanja is not for talking, we must focus on the issue of getting most of the population out of subsistence farming to a money economy in order to achieve the social-economic transformation,” said Museveni.

“The issue of getting the 39% of the population engaged in subsistence farming to a money economy, so that we achieve social economic transformation is key in this term of office.”
