President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni is expected to release his cabinet list of ministers and ministers of state any time soon.
Sources at State House say the cabinet list is ‘almost’ ready, and the president will make an announcement any time soon.
“A major decision is pending on the position of the vice president. The rest have been confirmed,” a source told Pearl Times News.
On May 27, ruling NRM secretary general Justine Kasule Lumumba told reporters in Kampala that the party would soon announce MPs to sit on the appointments committee.
This Committee will vet the cabinet and state (junior) ministers, before the executive can constitute a government.
As it stands, President Museveni is the acting minister in charge of all portfolios – including key ones like finance and health – since cabinet was dissolved weeks ago.
Today’s NRM Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting at State House Entebbe will recommend MPs to sit on the appointments committee, according to Lumumba.
