At least 20 of the passengers in a RwandAir plane that skidded off the runway at the Entebbe International Airport at about 5:31am on April 20 were guests for an upcoming birthday party for first son Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, several reports suggest.
In a statement, RwandAir said the skidding was due to bad weather.
The airline further noted that no injuries were recorded in the evacuation of passengers.

Air transport regulator Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) also blamed the incident on bad weather.
“An incident happened at Entebbe International Airport this morning at 5:31 am as a Rwanda Air CRJ 9 aircraft, flight number 464 veered off the runway on landing due to bad weather,” the UCAA statement read in part.
“All the passengers were disembarked safely and the situation is under control. The second (alternate) runway 12/30 is operational for small and light aircraft. All efforts are underway to remove the aircraft from the runway strip so that the main runway can return to full use.”
