Joseph Sabiti, the spokesperson of deputy speaker Anita Annet Among, has claimed that National Unity Platform (NUP) mobilization secretary for eastern Uganda Moses Bigirwa had demanded Shs100m.
Bigirwa was arrested on November 05.
While the deputy speaker’s camp says the opposition mobilizer was arrested at the deputy speaker’s gate, party leader Robert Kyagulanyi claimed Bigirwa had been picked from the Northern Bypass.
According to Sabiti, who until months ago used to report for NBS TV, Bigirwa had attempted to solicit Shs100m from Among.
The money was reportedly meant to appease Bigirwa to stop publishing allegations on the deputy speaker’s involvement in corruption and fraud.
“He was demanding for 100m shillings,” said Sabiti, the senior press secretary in the deputy speaker’s office.
