President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa appointed Kamya IGG on July 15, attracting criticism from some Ugandans.
One of these was Besigye, who dug up a 2008 Daily Monitor article in which the then firebrand opposition strong woman labelled Museveni a thief. (See: Where’s Museveni’s heart? Besigye says IGG designate Beti Kamya haunted by 2008 letter stinging President).
But the Kamya camp has now hit back, digging up a 2008 article in which the IGG designate blamed FDC wrangles on Besigye.
Part of the story, titled ‘I BLAME BESIGYE FOR FDC CRISIS – KAMYA,’ reads as follows:
Disgruntled FDC official Beti Kamya has accused party President Kizza Besigye of being responsible for the internal crisis now rocking the main opposition party.
In an exclusive interview with Sunday Vision, the outspoken Rubaga North MP said that it was under Besigye’s watch that the party constitution was manipulated.
Kamya resigned as envoy in the party president’s office over what she termed as the manipulation of the FDC Constitution.
Kamya and her supporters want a Muganda appointed immediately [to replace the deceased Sulaiman Kiggundu].
But Besigye and majority top leaders deferred the replacement to December when the delegates’ conference convenes.
By digging up this story, the Kamya camp sought to prove to Besigye that he too was not a saint.
The Beti Kamya group also intended to prove tye point that the IGG designate rebuked both Museveni and Besigye whenever they did wrong, and that she can be independent regardless of who has hired her.
But the opposition insist Kamya is unfit for the job, and have cited alleged integrity deficiency and inconsistence as some of the reasons.
