President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni, through the ministry of the presidency, has appointed Yiga Kissakyamukama, a controversial figure, the assistant RDC for Gomba District.
In 2022, Kissakyamukama ‘attacked‘ those he considered to have failed to mourn former security minister Gen Elly Tumwine and to condole with the family of the fallen general.
He dropped his pants in protest. He ‘attacked’ Buganda King Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi and Mengo as well as opposition politician Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine for not sending condolences to Tumwine’s family.
Kissakyamukama is a mobilizer of President Museveni’s ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM). He will now be the third most important representative of the head of state in the district of Gomba, where Bobi Wine comes from.
Kissakyamukama has thanked Museveni for appointing him to the position, a new role in the structure of government. “Thank you your Excellency for appointing me Assistant resident district commissioner of Gomba. I will serve with all my knowledge,” he wrote.
While some Ugandans have not welcomed his appointment, others such as junior minister Balaam Barugahara have congratulated him.
