CONFIRMED: All Set for Museveni to Decorate Son Muhoozi as General

All is set for Ugandan President Gen Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni to officially decorate his only son Muhoozi Kainerugaba as a full general of the national army. 

At only 48 years, Muhoozi Kainerugaba will officially be decorated for his new rank, the highest in the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF).

This week, Gen Museveni elevated his son to the rank of general but dropped him as Commander of the UPDF Land Forces, replacing him with Kayanja Muhanga who was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General (Lt Gen).

The changes followed a Twitter storm over Muhoozi’s posts on his army’s capacity to capture Nairobi, the Kenyan capital, within two weeks.

Now, Muhoozi is expected to be decorated on Monday, October 10, 2022.  The pipping ceremony will take place at the Bombo Military Headquarters.

Muhoozi will also hand over to his successor Commander of Land Forces Lt Gen Muhanga who is expected to officially start his work.

Some supporters of Muhoozi are said to have organized processions for the first son as he moves and returns to Bombo for decoration.

The promotion of Muhoozi just a few days ago irked some Ugandans who complained that the first son had just made mistakes by threatening to capture Nairobi.

But Museveni explained why he promoted his 48-year-old son to the rank of general even when he made ‘silly’ mistakes. (Read Story Here).
