Ugandans and well wishers across the world have begun contributing towards a Shs1.5bn (£300,000) target for the heart transplant for Cedric Babu Ndilima. A sports administrator and media personality, Cedric Babu is battling severe heart failure.
Son to veteran politician and former housing minister Capt Francis Babu, Cedric Babu is well known in sports, the media and Kampala politics.

He was at one time, the President of the Uganda Boxing Federation.
In the 2021 elections, he ran for Kampala Central MP seat but lost to Muhammad Nsereko.
He is fighting for his life in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at a hospital in the Kenyan capital Nairobi.
It is said that Cedric Babu collapsed weeks ago during his trip in the Rwandan capital Kigali. He was rushed to Nairobi for specialized treatment.
Now, after weeks of treatment, doctors in Nairobi have referred Cedric Babu to London for a heart transplant.
“Cedric — our father, brother, son, uncle, friend, and bright light — is currently in the ICU, courageously fighting for his life after being diagnosed with severe heart failure,” the family wrote in their fundraising appeal on crowdsourcing platform GoFundMe.
“His condition has deteriorated rapidly, and doctors have confirmed that his only chance of survival now lies in a heart transplant.
This life-saving procedure can only be done abroad, and Cedric must be medically evacuated to London immediately to begin the process.”
