Initial election results released by Ceni, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) Electoral Commission, on December 25, 2023 indicate that President Felix Tshisekedi, the incumbent, was leading.

DR Congo’s President Felix Tshisekedi has made at least two statements and taken one action that threaten diplomatic relations among member states of the East African Community (EAC) and could plunge the region into war.

A long-serving Member of the South Sudanese Parliament has died in the South Sudan capital Juba after a short illness. Veronica Louis Renzi was aged 73 and had been a law maker for 47 years. Renzi represented a constituency in Western Equatoria State under Salva Kiir’s government. She was a nominated member of the SPLM in the Revitalized Transitional Legislative Assembly (R-TNLA).
