Bobi Wine Meets Top US Officials; Reports Museveni

Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine and other top leaders of NUP have met top officials from the US government, and reported President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni’s government over alleged human rights violations.

On March 17, leader of opposition in parliament Mathias Mpuuga hosted a delegation from the US Department of State led by Lisa Peterson, the assistant secretary for democracy, human rights and labor, and Natalie Brown, the US ambassador to Uganda.

During the visit of US government officials, NUP leader Bobi Wine and party secretary general David Lewis Rubongoya attended.

According to Mpuuga, Lisa and Natalie  had come up to  follow up on reports of human rights violations.

Mpuuga said NUP would not give up on its campaign to end all forms state-sponsored violence and rights violations.

As expected, Bobi Wine and his fellow NUP leaders reported the Museveni state and its security agencies for reportedly arresting, detaining and torturing Ugandans, including critics.

He also asked the US to slap sanctions against Museveni’s government

“We call for firmer action from the international community, we call for isolation of the regime in Uganda,” Kyagulanyi said.

“We continue to call upon international development partners to not be seen to associate with a clear military dictator that Museveni is, that is our position.”

This is not the first time Bobi Wine is reporting Museveni to the western powers. Weeks ago, he reported the Ugandan president to the EU Parliament and sought help to remove Gen Museveni from power. (Read Story Here).
