Maj (Rtd) Ronald Iduli
One of the lawyers of Ugandan opposition leader Dr Kizza Besigye and his friend Obeid Lutale Kamulegeya have has been arrested, a member of the duo’s legal team has said.
Maj (Rtd) Ronald Iduli was arrested from his home, according to Eron Kiiza, the firebrand Besigye lawyer.
Kiiza said that the house of Maj (Rtd) Ronald Iduli had been broken into at around 5AM on the morning of December 10, 2024, the day Dr Besigye and Lutale are expected to return to the General Court Martial in Makindye Kampala.
The incident happened at Bulenga, according to lawyer Kiiza. He added that the arrest simply means that Maj (Rtd) Ronald Iduli “cannot therefore attend today’s military tribunal proceedings.”
No further details were offered from the Besigye legal team nor from security agencies on the raid on the Bulenga home of Maj (Rtd) Ronald Iduli and his arrest.
But the arrest happened hours after it emerged that the Ugandan Law Council had denied Kenyan senior counsel Martha Karua a temporary practicing certificate to defend Besigye in a Museveni military court.
Shocked by the reasons for denying her a temporary certificate, Martha Karua has fired back. See her hard hitting response Here.
