Barbie Kyagulanyi Itungo, wife of opposition leader Bobi Wine, is sounding the alarm as concerns grow over her husband’s safety. In a series of social media posts, she revealed that military personnel have been stationed at their compound for six days, infringing on their privacy and blocking food supplies.
“The people at my home say the criminals seemed to be drunk. We demand that the military vacate our home immediately. My wife and people are not safe,” Bobi Wine wrote, echoing his wife’s concerns.
Barbie shared harrowing details: “Last night, they banged our doors while insulting me and my husband… They have cut the padlocks of our gates and replaced them with chains. WE NEED OUR FREEDOM.”
Meanwhile, Uganda’s military chief Muhoozi Kainerugaba, son of President Yoweri Museveni, has given Bobi Wine a 48-hour ultimatum to surrender to police. “As for Kabobi, the permanent loser, I’m giving him exactly 48 hours to surrender himself to the Police. If he doesn’t, we will treat him as an outlaw/rebel and handle him accordingly,” Muhoozi wrote.
He added, “We have k!lled 22 NUP terrorists since last week. I’m praying the 23rd is Kabobi”.
Bobi Wine fired back: “You ordered the raid on my house to harm me! I beat you at your own game and escaped… Anyway, I will resurface when I decide. Then you and your father can do whatever you want to me. But make no mistake – YOU WILL NEVER ESCAPE THE INEVITABLE CONSEQUENCES OF YOUR ATROCITIES AGAINST THE PEOPLE OF UGANDA. THIS IS OUR COUNTRY!”
Bobi Wine lost the presidential election to Yoweri Museveni, who won with 71.65% of the vote, while Bobi Wine got 24.7%. The election was marred by controversy, with allegations of fraud, internet shutdowns, and biometric voter ID failures.
Bobi Wine has gone into hiding after escaping a suspected home raid on January 16.
