Speaker Anita Among says she carried and continues to carry Uganda’s cross. Anita Among, who is seeking reelection for the speaker of parliament job, believes she has used her first term in defending Uganda’s values.
Anita Among made reference to the passing of the anti-gay bill during during the Women’s Day Breakfast meeting held at Parliament.
She says she was sanctioned for defending Uganda’s values by championing the passing of the anti-gay bill, which sections of so-called progressives in the western world termed one of the harshest laws in the world.
Anita Among recalled that during the tense time for the passing of the bill, some people tried to avoid her.
“When we were passing the anti-homose*uality bill, everybody was fearing even to move near me, because they thought they would also be attacked like I was attacked,” she said.
“I was sanctioned for the good of this country. I protected the values and the traditions of this country.”
The speaker and Bukedea District Woman MP added that she was ready to keep carrying the cross for Ugandans.
“I carried the cross for the good of this country and I am ready still to carry it. I do not mind about the sanctions. When I am going to Bukedea, I do not need a passport or a visa, I just go,” she noted.
“But what matters to me is: are we serving humanity? Are we doing the rightful thing as per the biblical teaching?”
When the UK imposed sanctions on speaker Anita Among, there was noise over her properties in London even as she insisted she did not even own a cat in the UK. (See Details Here, There and Over There).
